According to Theravada teachings, life is suffering (\u2018dukkha\u2019), caused by craving (\u2018tanh\u0101\u2019), and the end of suffering is brought about following by the \u2018noble eightfold path\u2019, or \u201cAriya A\u1e6d\u1e6dha\u1e45gika Magga\u201d, according to<\/p>\n<p>Ariya = noble<br \/>\nA\u1e6d\u1e6dha\u1e45gika = eightfold and<br \/>\nMagga = path<\/p>\n<p>which are represented by<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Right view (Samm\u0101 di\u1e6d\u1e6dhi)<\/strong><br \/>\nThe awareness that life involves suffering, and that there is a way to end it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Right intention (Samm\u0101 sa\u1e45kappa)<\/strong><br \/>\nThe willingness to renounce and align one\u2019s thoughts with compassion and detachment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Right speech (Samm\u0101 v\u0101ca)<\/strong><br \/>\nSpeaking the truth, kindly. Avoiding lying, gossip, and harsh words.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Right action (Samm\u0101 kammanta)<\/strong><br \/>\nBehaving ethically &#8211; not killing, stealing, or participating in anything that causes harm.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Right livelihood (Samm\u0101 \u0101j\u012bva)<\/strong><br \/>\nChoosing a profession that benefits, rather than harms others (e.g., avoiding professions involving weapons, trading meat or poisonous substances)<\/p>\n<p><strong>6. Right effort (Samm\u0101 v\u0101y\u0101ma)<\/strong><br \/>\nMaking a conscious effort to cultivate good qualities, and letting go of bad ones (such as anger, jealousy, or laziness)<\/p>\n<p><strong>7. Right Mindfulness (Samm\u0101 sati)<\/strong><br \/>\nBeing fully aware of one\u2019s body, feelings, thoughts, and surroundings.<br \/>\nLiving in the present moment, being present.<\/p>\n<p><strong>8. After being ordained on November 15, 1966 in Bangkok, Thailand, he made it his lifelong mission to promote Buddhism in Indonesia.
